The ISRC (International Standard Recording Code) was developed by the ISO to identify sound and audiovisual recordings. Its standard number is ISO 3901.
The ISRC contains 12 characters that mean:

| 2 | Country |
| 3 | First owner (allocated by Phonographic Performance Ltd) |
| 2 | Recording year (last two digits) |
| 5 | Designation code (assigned by first owner) |
