Underscores removed from LAST PLAYED field name. If you do not agree with this move, please discuss here in the talk page. Canar 05:41, 8 May 2005 (CDT)

Well, guess there's nothing we can do about it now, as this "standard" has been implemented into the new play_count component. What was the point of establishing these standards again? --Topdownjimmy 06:32, 15 May 2005 (CDT)

Topdownjimmy, the point of these standards is to come up with the best solution to the problem, not the easiest. If an old "standard" can be shown to be less optimal than something new, the new one should be chosen. Look at the way Peter revises the foobar2000 SDK for a good example of this.

My goal in this whole thing can be described with a single word: "adoption"

To the most extend, i only care about establishing efficient standards. To secure adoption, i think about what would make it most attractive to users and devs(which brings things like usability, transition, visual attractiveness, etc. on the table). However, those are just the means, not the goal to me. I just look at it from a pragmatic and practical view: If backwards-compatibility ensures higher adoption and consolidation, then i don't care about sacrificing a space for an underscore in a tagname. Tags are there for containing data and being used - standards are there for achieving consolidation and compatibility - the rest is just bonus-stuff to me which is nice if one can get it for free or with low-effort. In short: i only care about what the users and devs want - correctness is less important to me.
