GnuDB
GnuDB is a service that was set up prior to the closure of freedb used for hosting CDDB data that uses the CDDB1 format.
With the formal closure of freedb in 2019, a number of applications now use GnuDB as their freedb replacement.
Applications
The following applications are GnuDB-aware:
- CDex
- Exact Audio Copy (native support from v1.6)
- fre:ac (native support)
Configuration
In general, applications only need to have freedb.freedb.org
changed to gnudb.gnudb.org
.
Should an application not support HTTP 1.1, the following proxy settings can be used:
- Proxy server:
proxy.gnudb.org
- Port:
3128
An alternate solution for some Windows users may be to update their "hosts" file with the following:
92.246.24.225 freedb.freedb.org
