Beets is a multi-platform command line utility written in Python 2.7 for tagging music libraries. It uses the Mutagen and Musicbrainz libraries, and understands the MPD protocol. It can be used to query your library, and works with a variety of interfaces. Beets is currently still in development, with the current stable release being 1.0B12. As of right now, it supports Python 2.5 and 2.6, but not 3.x yet. Beets is written by Adrian Sampson and supports many plugins. Beets will also download album art, lyrics, even certain genres from Last.fm. Genres such as "Seen.Live" and "Great" are ignored, giving the user the best possible genre listing. Beets is open source and is covered by the MIT license.
