For new users, the page should tell (roughly) what's in the normal, special and lite installer. And help them deciding between the 3 versions. I searched on the page and on the newbie guide, and didn't see anything. I don't know if Columns UI + common panels is included in one of these installers, but that would be nice. --User:norz, 2005-10-31

You do realize that somebody responsible for hydrogenaudio is blocking entire ISP's IP-address ranges? It makes your software (foobar2000) look kind of raunchy at best. I stopped looking further right there, when I was pointed to your forum on "hydrogenaudio.org" it said that I could not view that.
Apparently this wiki is not blocking the IP-ranges, but that's besides the point.
What I also dislike about the foobar2000 'official' page, is that it is way too anonymous and scary. WHO created it? Is it a human being, a company? Is there a contact or about page anywhere to look at? If it is on that hydrogen domain, we can't see it. Just so you know. I wouldn't put my info in their hands for a second if I were you. I'm thinking about reorganizing this page to be friendier for people looking to learn more about Foobar2000 while maintaining it as quick reference for veterans.
* Pretty colors, probably using tables, to further delineate sections
* Using keywords people are more used to such as: download, screenshots, support
* Pictures that don't mean anything but look pretty
I hope you all like pink and unicorns! j/k

I'm using Mozilla and it displays correctly unless I try to select it. I think it's best to have the correct code in there though, even at the expense of this bizarre behavior.  I avoided writing it like that because of that problem. Thanks. :--[[User:Topdownjimmy|Topdownjimmy]] 23:07, 14 Feb 2005 (CST)

I just put the code in the 'Basic Color Codes' section into code blocks for ease of reading, but found I had to use IE to do the editing since firefox couldn't handle the block chars in the edit panel. Firefox seems to display them fine though. Is this going to be a problem? Thought I should ask before I tried to do the same for the rest of the page. - krazy

The replay guide at: http://www.bobulous.org.uk/misc/Replay-Gain.html is ok, comparing replay gain in winamp & foobar, but the article on lossy codecs is full of false information: http://www.bobulous.org.uk/misc/lossy_audio_2006.html
It compares the average bitrate of wma, vorbis, mp3!!!!! There isn't even a comment section to  tell the author how wrong he is...

== Move 0.8.x links ==

----
In order to make this page more easily accessible to inexperienced users, I recommend we remove the 0.8.x links and possibly move them to their own dedicated page, which we could possibly link to at the bottom of this page.
0.9.x has been out for quite a while now and I'm not sure leaving this information on the front page is really helping anyone.

Reversed order of discussion posts (newer at top).  Thanks, krazy, for pointing out foo_looks was problematic.
This is one step I hope to take in an effort to resync the Foobar2000 wiki with all the changes that have been going on with the software itself.

Removed references to foo_looks and replaced with foo_ui_gfx. It's just that I don't think a [http://www.hydrogenaudio.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=17872 potential troublemaker] should be on the wiki page. Other than that, looking good!
- Visualisation: allow update (currently playing) spot be moved to the center of the window.

- Support OpenID on support forum or nag to bulleting-board soft creator...
Krazy, I moved your "Commonly Used Panel Extensions" down into the Columns UI section of the Beginner's Guide, I hope you don't mind.

Why use the underscore in the LAST_PLAYED tag? A space works just as well, is completely compliant, and is much easier to type.
- Put [OK] button next to check; I pressed "save page" instead.
