M-Audio Audiophile 24/96 is a hi-end PCI soundcard designed and manufactured by Avid Technologies (formely Midiman). It is primarily designed for music production via MIDI playback and recording, Mastering Engineers, and Hi-Fi enthuasiasts. It supports a wide number of commercial MIDI sequencing and audio editing applications including Digidesign Pro-Tools, Propellerheads Reason, and Ableton Live to name just a few. It is also a recommended card to use if you're building your own Linux Digital Audio Workstation and plan on using open-source MIDI sequencing and audio editing applications including Audacity, Ardour, Rosegarden, and MusE under ALSA.
