A WAV file is a RIFF container format created by Microsoft and IBM as standard wrapper for several audio codecs in the IBM PC. It usually contains uncompressed PCM audio. Other codecs sometimes found inside WAV are ADPCM, GSM, a/uLaw and MP3.
